Mission Statement - Meatless Mondays
Meatless Mondays is much more than a discount offer on Mondays.
We have accepted the challenge to produce a vegetarian alternative that
is flavorful and widely varied. Dining out is an extreme challenge to
anyone seeking vegetarian food. Most restaurants fail to address the needs
of vegetarians much less their desires. It is a matter of choice and people
must be allowed the freedom of choice. We wish to offer something for
everyone regardless of their personal dietary choices. Above all we have
tried to offer choices to everyone dining in our restaurant. The variety
of our menus is proof positive that we intend to offer our customers CHOICES.
The choice of a diet is a very personal thing and we are not here to change
anyone.
We intend to always support the Freedom of Choice for
everyone, and to help provide a variety of choices in our menus to that
end. The Vegetarian community has placed their trust in us by their patronage
and we have supported them in return by adhering to careful preparation
to avoid any contact with non-vegetarian ingredients. We have been trusted
to prepare food for our regular vegetarian and vegan customers, their
families and friends and have even catered events for Vegetarian activist
groups such as UARC (Utah Animal Rights Coalition) and PETA.
We have had a small number of narrow minded people criticize
our choice to cater to both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. We could
probably survive without our vegetarian customers but we certainly could
not economically exist without our non-vegetarians. We think it is idiotic
to exclude or ignore any customer. There is an extremely small number
who think differently and for those whose very existence is threatened
by people with different diets, what can I say but GET A LIFE!!.
Meatless Mondays has been around for more than SIX years.
In that time we have noticed that a number of our regular customers have
changed their dining habits. Due to the extreme discount for vegetarian
dishes on Meatless Mondays, many have chosen to order vegetarian on Mondays.
The comments are always favorable ranging from "Not bad" to
"You know I didn't miss the meat". Economics is a very powerful
for behavior modification. Some have made Monday a regular event and even
if not dining at Bangkok Thai have chosen to make it meatless.
Let's see, 52 / 365 = 14.25, or 14.25% less meat or animal
products consumed. That couldn't hurt, could it? Hmmm... healthier and
more earth-friendly living one day at a time.
